6×6 Auction – exhibition & silent auction fundraiser

The 6×6 Auction is a fun and exciting community art event and a major fundraiser for Smithers Art Gallery!

Hundreds of beautiful 6″x6″-sized works of art, created and donated by community members, will be up for sale by silent auction from Tuesday October 18-Friday October 21, 2016 (10am-4pm daily). Admission and bidding tickets are free!

To add a little intrigue, the auction is anonymous with all artwork signed on the back only so bidders only find out who the artist is after the hammer falls!

The Wine & Cheese on Friday October 21, 7-9pm, marks the grand finale of the 6×6 Auction! Tickets are just $10 which includes a free glass of wine or craft beer, local Whistler Road cheeses donated by BV Wholesale, and door-prizes of art materials donated by Opus Art Supplies! Tickets are for sale in advance at the Gallery, or at the door.

Winning bidders who aren’t present at the end of the auction on Friday night will be contacted on Saturday morning (Oct 22) by phone.

Any artwork which remains unsold after the auction can be purchased for a $10 flat fee on Saturday October 22 from 10am-1pm.

Our very grateful thanks go to the hundreds of artists who so generously donated their artwork.

This event is one of the Gallery’s most important fundraisers, with all proceeds from the silent auction going towards the ongoing costs of providing free exhibitions and low-cost workshops, art classes and kids’ programs. The Gallery is a non-profit organisation run almost entirely by volunteers and depends on grants, fundraising, and commission on art sales to operate.
