Art! Vancouver 2018 – Artist Contest: ‘Ignite Your Voice’

Art! Vancouver is returning to the Vancouver Convention Centre for its 4th year between April 19th and April 22nd 2018, and we are looking for emerging artists to enter our competition for the chance to exhibit a piece of your artwork at our international art fair.

We are looking for 16 visually exciting responses to our 2018 theme ‘Ignite Your Voice’ to display as part of our 2018 event. At a time where speaking out and being heard are perhaps more important than ever before, we challenge you to create a piece of artwork that communicates this message to the viewer. As the artist you are free to interpret ‘Ignite Your Voice’ however you wish – it could be a comment on wider global issues or perhaps something more personal to you. To Enter:
On Canvas, create a 5in x 7in (12.7cm x 17.7cm) artwork on the theme ‘ignite your voice’
Post your piece on Instagram. Include @artvancouver #ArtVancouver2018 and #igniteyourvoice in the caption

Email Petra – petra@artvancouver.net to say you have entered – and to introduce yourself (name, age, artistic background i.e. art student) Please also include a brief rationale of how your work links to the theme (150 words max)
Prizes:
16 entries will be chosen to display at Art! Vancouver 2018. 1 lucky overall winner will also receive 4 VIP passes to our opening night and 4 multi day passes for Art! Vancouver 2018. All 16 shortlisted entrants will receive 2 multi day passes and all contest participants will receive a day pass to Art! Vancouver 2018 upon request.

Rules:
Entrants must be classified as emerging artists (age 19 and over) and able to hand deliver their submission to a Downtown Vancouver location (tbc) on Monday April 16th between 4pm and 6pm (please see point number 8)
There is no limit on the number of entries per artist.
Artworks MUST be on 5in x 7in (12.7cm x 17.7cm) canvas
We are only accepting 2D work on the stipulated canvas size. Unfortunately we are not able to consider other works for this contest.
Work must be linked to the theme of ‘Ignite Your Voice’
Deadline: 12 noon on Friday April 6th 2018
16 submissions will then be chosen by our selection committee to exhibit at Art! Vancouver 2018. Artists selected will be notified via email by 8pm on Wednesday April 11th 2018
Shortlisted artists (or a representative) must then be available to drop off their artwork in person in Downtown Vancouver between 4pm and 6pm on Monday April 16th 2018 (location tbc)
The winner of the 4 VIP passes and 4 multipasses will be notified on Wednesday April 18th via email.
