“Body Language” Figurative Art Show – Call out for Artists


Call to Artists!

Ex Nihilo Vineyards and The Creatio Gallery are pleased to announce their first annual figurative art show, “Body Language”. In the spirit of Frederick Hart, Igor Babailov and the original “Ex Nihilo” sculpture, “Body Language” is a juried exhibition open to artists across Canada that will showcase the best of neo-classical, modern and contemporary interpretations of the human figure. Coinciding with The 2015 Okanagan Spring Wine Festival, “Body Language” runs May 1st – 9th, 2015, and will conclude with an awards reception on Saturday, May 9th 7pm – 9pm, featuring canapés and Ex Nihilo wine.

We encourage artist’s of all career levels to apply to “Body Language” and welcome everything from the photo realistic to abstract expressionism.

Submission Guidelines:

Artists interested in submitted work for “Body Language” should email an application package to gallery@exnihilovineyards.com

The application package must include: High-Res digital photos of the 2 work(s) to be considered along with title, dimensions and mediums used. Artists should also include a short bio and artistic statement. Applying is FREE! But we ask each artist to limit his or her application to 3 works. Please keep in mind this is a celebratory figurative show; erotic works will not be considered. Please include the suggested retail price for each submission.

The Details:

Application deadline is March 20th, 2015, and artists will be contacted before April 1st regarding the jury’s decision. Selected works will need to be dropped off or shipped to The Creatio Gallery at Ex Nihilo Vineyards between April 23rd – 30th, 2015. All works on canvas less than 1.5” in depth should be framed, those 1.5” deep or greater should be framed or have the edges painted in a suitable manner to the piece. Works on paper are required to be framed or mounted on a surface with a depth of 1.5” or greater. Art that does not meet these guidelines upon arrival at Creatio Gallery will not be shown.

Artists whose works are selected will be given 2 complimentary tickets to the awards reception. The awards night will be a great opportunity to mingle and connect with art lovers from around the Okanagan Valley.

After the close of the show, art that did not sell will need to be picked up or shipped back to the artist. Any art that has not been arranged to be picked up by May 17th, 2015, will be shipped to the artist, and they will be billed accordingly.

For all pieces sold at Gallery Creatio during the exhibit, Artists will be remitted 60% of the selling price less GST, unless they have a GST #, payable by check, within two weeks following the close of the show.
