Call for Submissions – 2015 Multifaith Calendar

Description

Each year, the Multifaith Action Society invites artists to submit works of art for publication in our annual Multifaith Calendar.

The theme for our upcoming 2015 edition is: Stillness

Deadline for submissions: 29 January 2014

Theme description…

Where Do You Find Stillness? The world is chaotic. Everyone is busy, it is difficult to find quiet time. And so, to hear ourselves think we often have to make dates in our schedules for meditation, retreats and walks in nature. The purpose is simply to quiet the chatter of our minds and connect to the deeper part of ourselves.

Stillness helps us do just that and the places where it can be found are many: watching your children sleep; walking alone in nature; sitting in meditation or prayer; looking up into a starry night… the examples are wide-ranging.

We believe this theme is open to a wide variety of interpretations and leaves open the possibility for a rich array of artistic submissions.

Submission Guidelines…

Artists can submit up to 5 (five) images and work can be in any medium. The interpretation of the theme will be determined by the overall collection of images received.

How We Pay Artists…

Selected artists will be offered an honorarium of $250 per monthly calendar image, $500 for the cover image, and $100 for smaller inset images placed throughout the Calendar. In addition, selected artists will receive a set of complimentary Calendars once published.

How to Submit Entries…

Submit digital images in low resolution (JPEG / 72 dpi) to: artsubmissions@multifaithaction.org

Should a piece be chosen, we will contact the artist and request a high resolution version of the image (9″ x 9″, JPEG or TIFF min 400 dpi).

An excellent educational resource, the Multifaith Calendar combines both beauty and substance. It identifies and provides descriptions for dates of significance for 14 world religions. The MFC also brings together art from many cultural and spiritual backgrounds in a broad array of artistic styles and mediums. Approximately 20,000 copies of the MFC are sold annually across North America and Internationally.
