Canadian Whiskey Painters 2019 Exhibition

Description

And now for something completely different – talk about making a silk purse out of a sow’s ear!
No doubt many of you painters have, at one time or another, accidentally dipped your brush into your drink – vodka, wine, gin, whisky. Well, the Canadian Whisky Painters do it intentionally – all their small watercolour landscapes contain a drop of the hard stuff. These whisky paintings are no bigger than 4 inches by 6 inches, painted with artist-quality water media, water colour or gouache, on acid-free paper.

These little gems may be painted at street-side, in a field, or in a coffee shop, pub, – even in a studio – so long as there is a drop of alcohol to be found.
And in case you were wondering about the spelling – whisky or whiskEy – apparently, the rule of thumb is, if the country producing the alcohol has an ‘e’ in its name, such as ‘Ireland,’ it is spelled Whiskey, but if there is no ‘e’ in the country’s name, as in ‘Canada,’ it is spelled Whisky.

The Canadian Whisky Painters 2019 Exhibition takes place from May 1st to May 12th with the Meet-the-Artists Reception happening on Saturday, May 4th from 1 to 4.

Gallery Open Hours: Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm (Closed Monday/Tuesday)
