Capture Photography Festival 2017 Call for Submissions

Description

The 4th annual Capture Photography Festival will take place April 1-28, 2017 around Metro Vancouver and parts of the Lower Mainland.

Capture Photography Festival is now accepting submissions for exhibitions and events for the 2017 iteration of the Festival. Proposals must be submitted by November 15, 2016 at 11:59pm.

WHO / WHAT IS ELIGIBLE?

This call is open to all exhibitions of photography and lens-based works addressing any subject matter. Additionally, we welcome proposals for innovative events.

Any artist, artist group, or organization in partnership with an artist or artist group can apply! However, your exhibition or event must take place in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia during at least part of the month of April 2017.

EXHIBITION PROPOSALS:

Applicants can choose either the juried “Selected Program” or the non-juried “Open Program”.

The “Selected Program” is open to exhibitions presented in professional spaces. Capture defines a professional space as any space that operates full-time as a gallery or exhibition space. This includes public galleries and museums, commercial galleries, artist-run centres, artist collectives, etcetera. Proposals submitted to the “Selected Program” will be evaluated by a jury of artists and arts professionals.

The “Open Program” is open to exhibitions presented in any space, from conventional gallery spaces, to community venues, to the side of a bus. Exhibitions can be any length, including one-day pop-ups. Submissions to this category will not be juried, and will automatically be included in Capture 2017 if they meet the Festival’s mandate.

Exhibition Participation Fees:

The submission fee is $300 (plus GST) for the “Selected Program”. All proposals are subject to a $100 fee upfront, and upon acceptance into the Selected Program, applicants will be invoiced for the remaining $200 fee (not-for-profits are exempt from the latter).

The submission fee for the “Open Exhibition” category is $100 (plus GST).

EVENT PROPOSALS:

Event submissions must be related to photography and can include exhibition openings, talks, panels, tours, workshops, family events, films, and more. Events will not be juried, and as long as they fall within the scope of the Festival, they will automatically be included in Capture 2017.

Submission Fees for Events:

There are NO submission fees for events.
