The Art Gallery at Evergreen (AGE) at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (ECC) in Coquitlam seeks an Assistant Curator to support the development and delivery of the AGE’s exhibition, public engagement and education programs. The Assistant Curator will be a crucial participant in the development and delivery of a renewed and revitalized approach to the ECC’s exhibition, arts education, collection, and public engagement programs. The AGE will provide the Assistant Curator with meaningful, hands-on experiences that support the AGE’s programming objectives and the Assistant’s professional development objectives. The Curatorial Assistant will also participate in the research and development for visual arts programs, funding and marketing and communication initiatives for the 2017/2018 programming year.
The Assistant Curator will be a graduate in Fine Arts, Curatorial and Critical Studies, Art History, Interactive Arts, History or related field and will possess:
• Demonstrated knowledge of current contemporary Canadian and international artistic trends.
• Experience in education, public engagement or audience development programming.
• Exceptional communications skills
• Exceptional organization skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to take initiative and problem solve.
• Computer experience with web applications, Microsoft Office and basic database knowledge.
