Interim Curator (during current Curator/Director’s 1-year leave of absence)

Description

Qualifications:
– Post-secondary education in Studio Art and/or Art History
– Experience in managing staff and operations
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a high level of professionalism
– Ability to communicate and develop friendly relationships with artists, volunteers, our membership and the public
– Strong eye for detail
– Highly efficient and independent multi-tasker
– Experience writing about the visual arts
– Experience with publicity (including writing press releases, bios and other promotional and communications materials)
– Understanding of budgeting and the ability to work creatively under a budget
– Computer literacy is required, including proven Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook
– Experience using WordPress, MailChimp, and social networking platforms an asset
– Design experience an asset
– Experience in a non-profit organization an asset
– Experience working with volunteer boards and committees and asset
– Customer service or retail experience an asset
– A strong appreciation of the arts and culture

Hours: This is a full-time position, 35 hours a week; Monday-Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Applicants must be willing to work weekend events and installations, on occasion (with off-setting time off during the week).

Starting Date: The applicant should be available to train for 2 weeks in November/December (dates negotiable). The position will start full-time on January 2, 2014, and run to December 24, 2014.

Remuneration: Monthly salary of $2881 (based on rate of $19/hour)
