July First Thursday

Description

On the first Thursday of each month, The Fort Gallery hosts a variety of visual artists, writers and poets, and musicians from the local community who share their gifts and creations. On July 6th, we are pleased to welcome musician Antoinette Libelt.

“This girl doesn’t need a microphone” is something singer/songwriter Antoinette has head many times. Growing up listening to artists like Michael Jackson and Aretha Franklin, she has emulated their soulful voices. Growing up in a musical family, music always surrounded Antoinette’s life. In her teens she picked up the guitar and began writing songs. From then on she has been performing every chance she gets. Antoinette graduated with a diploma in contemporary Music and Technology from Selkirk College in 2015 and she currently teaches voice and guitar at Bergthorson Music Academy and has plans to record an EP of original songs.

Also featured at this month’s First Thursday is Postcards from Canada, an exhibition of original postcard-sized art from artists of all ages and stages across Canada. Accompanying the exhibit is an online auction with proceeds going to Canadian Feed the Children, First Nations Nutrition Program.

The Fort Gallery thanks the Township of Langley for sponsorship of First Thursday community arts events.
