March/April Exhibition: “Perspectives” by Pashan Bassett

Description

The March-April exhibition at Smithers Art Gallery is “Perspectives”, a solo show of oil paintings by Smithers artist Pashan Bassett. Exhibition Dates: March 8-April 9, 2016

This show could equally be called “Different Perspectives from British Columbia to India” – different perspectives of a path in the northern Canadian woods, or the same perspective of different views of a river in India, one side of the Ganges busy and vibrant, the other empty and silent.

Free Prize Draw!
All visitors to the show are invited to enter their names into a free prize draw for a beautiful $150-value oil painting called Moon Morning which has been generously donated by Pashan. The winning entry will be drawn at the end of the exhibition on April 9.

Biography
Pashan Bassett was born in Trinidad, West Indies, and has spent most of her life between Paris, France, and Northern British Columbia. Her work mirrors both the influence of the French Impressionists and the Group of Seven’s mastery of northern light of the Canadian wilderness. Pashan’s paintings have appeared in galleries in Vancouver and Paris, including Les Independents in the Grand Palais and the Salon d’Automne, and the Kenneth Heffel Gallery of Fine Art in Vancouver.

Gallery Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 12pm-4pm
