May 23 Artist Talk at the Fort Gallery

On May 23rd at 7pm, the Fort Gallery is pleased to host Langley artists Julia Bennett and Cindy Wilker who will give talks on the work of Nancy Joan Crawford, concurrent with a posthumous exhibition of Nancy’s work called With Love and Gratitude at the Fort Gallery till May 26th.

Artist/Teacher Julia Bennett taught with Nancy for many years; during this time they had several joint shows, both at the Fort Gallery in Fort Langley and at the Mary Pratt gallery at the Langley Fine Arts School. Julia will talk about working with Nancy on these exhibitions.

Artist/Sister Cindy Wilker had many opportunities to work closely with Nancy, both in Langley and in her overseas workshops. This allowed her to study first hand the many techniques that Nancy brought to her encaustic painting practice and gain valuable insights into her processes and conceptual framework. Cindy will relay these experiences and introduce selected video tutorials by Nancy herself that will shed light on how she created her encaustic collections.
