Monumental: Celebrating 35 Years of Fired Up!

Description

Please join us for the opening reception of “Monumental” celebrating 35 years of Fired Up! The collective’s multilayered mandate, to which they have held true for so long, has been to exhibit excellence in ceramics, to encourage younger ceramicists, and to educate the public in the many ways that ceramics can used as a means of expression.

To commemorate this occasion, Circle Craft will be hosting an exhibition of selected new works from the 10 current core Artists of Fired Up! This year’s theme, ‘Monumental’, speaks to the amazing accomplishment for an annual show of ceramics to continue to thrive and improve for over 3 decades. Each Artist will interpret this year’s theme with a diverse range of sculptural and functional large-scale works.

The annual Fired Up! show is held in Metchosin Hall, on the last weekend of May, each year. This year there will be a festive opening and a display of all former core member’s work, as well as “Monumental” works by the current members. More details can be found at http://www.firedup.ca/ .

“Monumental” runs from April 4th, with an opening reception from 4pm – 7pm, until April 28th at Circle Craft Gallery on Granville Island (1 – 1666 Johnston Street, Vancouver, BC V6H 3S2)
