Oak Bay Artists’ Studio Tour (Spring 2017)

Description

On Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23, 2017, from 12pm to 4:30pm, the artists of Oak Bay will be opening their home studios to the public for this popular semi-annual event. The free, self-guided tour visits 26 local artists showing paintings in watercolour, acrylic, and oil, as well as ceramics, jewelry, photography, fibre art, paper castings, art cards, woodcuts and more. Participants are invited to walk, bike, or drive the streets of Oak Bay at their own pace to view the art, meet the artists, and learn about artists’ inspiration and process. Now in its 18th year, the juried tour is produced by Oak Bay Parks, Recreation, and Culture.

In addition to the displays in their home studios, artists will also be exhibiting a selection of works in the Neighbourhood Learning Centre (adjacent to Oak Bay High School) from Tuesday, April 18 to Wednesday, April 26 (The Neighbourhood Learning Centre is open Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 9pm, and 8:30am to 4:30pm on weekends). Recreation Oak Bay is proud to help local artists share their art with the community, and to provide education about art and its many expressions.

Several of the participating artists have received nationwide and international recognition. The Spring Studio Tour artists are: Marie Andrée Allison, Robert and Sarah Amos, Myra Baynton, Jean Betts, Claire Christinel, Myrna Germaine-Brown, Arlene Davey, Bonnie Anne Goodwin, Anne Hansen, F. Caroline Hunter, Linda Lindsay, Vivian Lockridge, Victor Lotto, Sandi Madsen, Joanie McCorry, Avis Rasmussen, Paul Redchurch, Pam Stonehouse, Greg Stoneman, Eric and Miriam Thorn, Joan Turner, Bruce Vallance, Flo-Elle Watson, and Val Wouters.
