North Vancouver Community Arts Council presents

Wonderland

September 19 – October 11, 2014
Opening reception: Thursday, September 18, 7-9pm

Lewis Carroll’s novels Alice in Wonderland, and Through the Looking Glass are monumental pieces of literature. The incredible imaginative world has been admired by a spectrum of individuals. Both children and adults love the play with logic, space, and time and the peculiar characters and creatures in this alternate dream-like world where anything is possible and “everyone’s mad”. The curious wonder and spectacular imagery in these stories inspires artists around the world to create original and creative visuals based on the adventures of Alice in Wonderland and the Looking Glass. The North Vancouver Community Arts Council is thrilled to offer a space for such artists to showcase their ‘Wonderland’ inspired artwork.

This exhibition celebrates these fantastical elements, and characters of the Lewis Carroll novels, Alice in Wonderland, and Through the Looking Glass. Each artist offers a unique approach using a diverse selection of media including etchings, photography, paintings, textile art and assemblages.
