The primary focus of this demonstration will be to show the overall approach to laying down the foundations of a composition. Deciding on priorities and learning how to make the appropriate decisions in the correct order. We will discuss the business of sequence while building, and establish how to prevent confusion later when the work has been started. Susanna will show which brushes are appropriate for various stages of development in the painting process and discuss how to mix colours and tonal patterns. You will leave with a good overall view of how to proceed in any type of composition in either landscape, architecture or portraiture!

About Susanna:
I wanted to be an artist since I was 3 years old, if not before, and was never without pencils and crayons and paper. After high school in B..C. where I grew up , I studied full time for seven years in London England and was accepted for the final post- grad studies into a scholarship program at the Royal Academy. I have exhibited there twice in the last few years, in the Summer Exhibition, which was a great honour. I also taught at UBC and elsewhere when I returned to live in Canada . I won the North shore Fans award a few years ago here, and in 2003 my portrait of Queen Elizabeth was produced on every Canadian coin minted here since then. This comes to over 17 billion reproductions . Still going up! I now teach workshops and private lessons in my studio , and do mentorships in return for wok in my office or studio.
