Advance Your Process & Presentation with Crissy Arseneau CANCELLED

March 14, 2020

Description

February 12, 2020 – Please note: We are sorry to announce that this demonstration has been cancelled. Thank you for your interest.

Saturday, March 14 11:30AM – 1:00PM CANCELLED

The decisions you make when beginning a new piece can help or hinder your ability to share it with the world. This demonstration will explore creating a set of principles to guide your approach, how embracing the limitations of your materials and their presentation can lead to creative solutions, and how this can be of great benefit when showing in alternative spaces where you’re often responsible for all aspects of the exhibition.

The discussion will include creating work with standard-sized readymade frame options in mind, and when custom framing or presentation outside of a traditional frame is best suited to your work. We’ll also delve into showing your work at alternative venues – what to think about before accepting or seeking out these opportunities, methods to plan the layout of an exhibition, and how to ensure your art is protected in spaces where it will not be treated as preciously as it would be in a gallery setting.

Born in Quesnel, British Columbia, Crissy Arseneau is a Canadian artist who lives and works in Vancouver. Her current paper sculpture and collage work in hand-painted and hand-cut paper explores attention and contemplation, order and repetition, memory and place, and the spaces where the natural and built environments meet.

She is a member of the All Together Artist Collective with whom she shows regularly, and her work has been exhibited in galleries and alternative art spaces in British Columbia, with pieces held in private collections in North America and the UK. She works out of her studio space in Vancouver’s iconic 1000 Parker Street Studios.
