October 27, 2019

How to bring white-on-white still life painting to life using … colour! Using photo reference of white flowers from her garden, Kirsten will be demonstrating how to create larger-than-life floral paintings with oils. Modelling white objects without using black, but rather by searching the shadows for reflected and translucent light and colour, and applying highlights judiciously and with conviction.
Kirsten Robertson grew up in Vancouver and has lived in Penticton since 2007. She studied Art History at Queen’s and UBC (BA), painting and drawing at Emily Carr College, and Graphic Design & Illustration at Capilano College (Diploma). Art historical movements such as the Dutch Old Masters and Impressionism are often referenced in her paintings of Okanagan fruit and orchards, as is her graphic design background. Kirsten was a member of the Tumbleweed Gallery Artist Collective in Penticton for the past 5 years and shows locally at several shops and wineries. www.kirstenrobertson.ca – instagram: @kirsty.robertson
