Description

All day 6 hour session outdoors with live nude professional model in comfortable and private backyard farm location. Professional and amateur participants welcome. Hosted by Art in the Country (operating in its 30th year) and Susan Gorris (Professional Artist, Retired Educator and Founder), pre-registration mandatory as space is limited. Model fee, coffee/tea, chairs, drawing boards and stools included in $30.00 fee payable by e-transfer to : uu3sgorris@shaw.ca

Art in the Country Live Model sessions is currently offered to adult participants. Previous years involved summer workshops and guest workshops by other professional artists for young artists of different age groupings. Now, as a retired educator intending on a full-time focus on personal and professional initiatives, Susan Gorris participates in every session with models and incorporates the figurative/portrait studies into paintings, drawings and sculpture.

Registered participants for August 18th are welcome to join a potluck after-session. A plateful of ready-to-eat goodies and an appetite required; liquid refreshments provided. Great opportunity to meet OFF (Other Fine Folks) with a shared interest in studying the figure with all of its complexity.

 

Special Instructions

Come early to set up your station while enjoying a delicious cup of coffee or tea. Gates open at 9:00 am. Traffic on 16th is crazy fast so slow down well in advance and warn drivers of your turn into Art in the Country. Parking on grass is fine. Please pull in tightly; veer to the right to park on grass as driveway only holds a handful of cars (eager beavers) who arrive at 9:00 am.

Dress for hot sun and chilly shade and everything in between. Participants will work on uneven grass lawn so sturdy shoes recommended.

Prerequisites

Experience with selected 2D or 3D media definitely beneficial. Experience with professional setting and a personal self-direction for similar model sessions will facilitate greater absorption of a 6 hour opportunity with a live model. No instruction offered (aside from the occasional one-on-one) so independence of practice is welcome !

This is a privately organized offering for enthusiastic professionals and amateurs. Planning and organization is profound so pre-registration in advance is a must.

Suppy List

Participants bring own media and support. Two easels offered on a first-come, first serve basis. Chairs, stools, model, coffee/tea, drawing boards provided. Bring a light snack/lunch for yourself as 1/2 hr break at 1:00 pm will provide a moment of rest/nutrition /conversation/animal appreciation for all.
