Botanical Paintings with Anna Farba

November 27, 2021

Description

When: Date and Time: Saturday, November 27, 11:00-12:30

In this demo Anna will be painting bright yellow Dandelions, one of the understated little flowers that remind her of childhood.  She will  be painting the entire plant with leaves and several stems at different flowering stages, together with a lovely fluffy “parachute”. Drawing inspiration from nature’s abundance in common weeds and wildflowers is an amazing and fun  way to enjoy painting.

Anna will walk you through her entire process of creating botanically accurate illustrations from pencil sketch to the finished piece.  She will showcase what colors she uses on a daily basis and what’s included in her personal watercolor palette. Participants will also learn how to indicate and portray specific details about the plants through observation,  no deep knowledge of botany required!

If there is time at the end,  Anna would love to touch on granulating watercolors and special effects they can bring to the table (Daniel Smith has some excellent ones) and demonstrate how to paint leaves that change color during fall months.

I’m Anna, a freelance illustrator currently living in Vancouver, BC. With a background in fine arts and graphic design I create illustrations for a variety of commercial projects like packaging, home decor and books. My creative work reflects my love of nature and traditions of botanical art, with a focus on exploration of native flora & fauna and medicinal plants. If I’m not illustrating for a client or having a forest walk, I’m probably working on new botanical designs for my shop or filming videos for my youtube channel.
