Carefree Painting of Figures at the Beach with Barbara Cadario
Learn a fun, step-by-step process for creating a successful beach scene, including a simple way to quickly draw complex figures, and an approach to light effects, colour harmonies, compositional strategies and effective brushwork. Each concept will be explained and demonstrated. Barbara will work in oil paint, but the concepts can be applied to other media and environments such as city scenes, landscapes etc.
Materials:
Holbein Aqua Duo Colours: Titanium white, Lemon Yellow, Yellow ochre, Ultramarine, Cerulean blue, Cadmium red light, Magenta, permanent alizarin crimson, anthraquinone red or quinacridone red
Opus Birch Plywood and Opus Gesso, or Ampersand Gesso Board, 8 x 10
Hog bristle brushes, a range of sizes, e.g. Opus Fortissimo, filberts, size 2, 4, 6, 10, 12
Soft brushes, e.g. Princeton Imperial 6600 brushes, filberts, size 4
Brush holder

Artist Bio:
Barbara Cadario is an award-winning Contemporary Impressionist painter of figures, water and anything else that captures the concept or emotion she wants to express. She is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and the Santa Barbara Art Association and has a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Colours and light inspire her.
