Discover the beautiful mix of coloured pencil and pan pastel with Brenda Grate!
Brenda will demonstrate her technique of using both coloured pencil and Pan Pastel together in a painting, utilizing the strengths of each medium to create unique effects that wouldn’t be possible without the qualities that each medium brings to the table. Coloured pencils are great for detailed effects and pan pastels are great for quickly layering colors and creating softness that most other mediums can’t accomplish. The two mediums, along with Pastelmat paper, are really a perfect match. Using both Colored Pencil and Pan Pastel to best utilize the strengths of each medium.

Brenda is originally from California, but has lived in the Okanagan Valley for the past few years after spending five years traveling and living in Europe. She started her art career in Greece after retiring from writing. Watercolour was Brenda’s first passion, but coloured pencil and pastels soon followed. She loves to paint a variety of subjects, but her favourites are wine, landscapes and wildlife. As a former Opus Art Supplies employee, Brenda is well-informed in the world of art products and techniques.
