Contemporary Landscapes in Oil with Kate Brooks-Heinimann

Join Kate Brooks-Heinimann in this welcoming and creative demo as she shares her love for oil painting and nature.  Kate will show the process of starting and working on a painting by using a sketch and photo reference, then transferring the image free hand to canvas.   From there you will be guided through how to use classical painting materials such as oil paints and hog hair brushes to capture a contemporary landscape using a variety of techniques.  Other topics Kate will touch on in this demo include colour theory, perspective, and composition.

Artist Bio:

Kate Brooks-Heinimann is an artist and art educator based on Lekwungen Territory. Kate teaches art at McTavish Academy and in School District 61. Since 2016, her work has been exhibited throughout British Columbia and Alberta and she has completed multiple artwork commissions within Canada and the United States.
