Design A Great Painting with Barbara Cardario

September 15, 2019

Description

Sunday, September 15, 11:00am – 12:30pm
Sunday, September 15, 2:00pm – 3:30pm

Join Barbara as she demonstrates how to add strength and expression to your paintings using basic principles of design!

Barbara will demonstrate various design and composition techniques that are easy to apply to any painting, whether you paint landscapes, figures or nonobjective work. Specific concepts will include: generally effective composition strategies, leading the eye through the painting, focal point placement,  the Rule of Thirds, and golden rectangles and spirals. The work of famous artists will be used to illustrate these principles. She will discuss the pros and cons of using these design “rules” versus using your intuition. You will see the steps that she takes to begin and develop a finished work using design strategies. Being aware of design concepts will add strength to your work –  and they are especially helpful when working outdoors. This knowledge will change how you view the art around you.

Space is limited and registration is required.
Please visit Opus Granville Island or contact them at 604‑736‑7028 to register.
