Drawing Botanicals with Jeannette Sirois
In this fun demo session, we’ll discuss the wonderful medium of colour pencils and botanical illustration. Jeannette will share everything to get you going, from what pencils to choose, papers, colour range for botanical illustration and all other essential tools used for botanical drawing. There will be a demo of layering techniques of a small petal, how to choose colours, mixing pencil types, using whites (best ones to choose), using solvents and where to begin. Come join Jeannette for this fun session on using colour pencils for botanical drawing.
Materials:
Colour Pencil: Luminance, Prismacolor Premiere, Prismacolor Verithin, Polychromos
White Pencil: Prismacolor and or Luminance
Ink: Windsor and Newton White Ink
Papers: Stonehenge (hot press drawing,) Strathmore
Solvent: Gamblin (odorless)
Sprays: Golden
Erasers: Mono, Battery Powered
Sharpeners: Various sharpeners, Mobius and Rupert hand held brass

Artist Bio:
Jeannette Sirois is a professional artist practicing full time using colour pencil as her main medium for drawing. She has been drawing for many years and started teaching and working full time with colour pencils in 2011. Her subject of choice is botanicals and portraits and her works are often large scale with pieces drawn in colour pencil up to 4 ‘ x 6’. Jeannette has won numerous awards and has been selected twice as a finalist in the Kingston Prize. Her work is in public and private collections around the world.
