Have you always wanted to draw without fear? Join Vancouver Artist Fiona Tang as she shares her inspirational art journey and encourages participants to pick up their materials and draw alongside her. Fiona’s demo will start with talking about the development of her artistic practice and an introduction to her breathtaking drawings. She will then move on to demoing and explaining the charcoal-focused art materials in her tool kit – a wonderful overview of many drawing materials. To keep creativity flowing, everyone will be asked to get their hands dirty with a drawing exercise followed by a quick Q&A. Participants will need drawing materials, such as a selection of charcoal, an eraser, and a drawing surface. Though you won’t need all Fiona’s listed materials for the drawing exercise, you can choose from her recommendations below. Perfect for artists of all levels, and especially those looking to draw without fear!

Fiona Tang
Fiona Tang is a Vancouver-based artist who completed her BFA at Emily Carr University in May 2014 with a Drawing Major. Tang often works with charcoal, chalk pastel and acrylic in the style of trompe l’oeil. She frequently uses animals as her subjects and creates big expressive and energetic drawings. Her animal drawings are typically life-size or larger to emphasize the interaction of viewers to her art. Tang has had group shows at the Concourse Gallery, Ayden Gallery, Richmond Art Gallery, The Fall, Anvil Centre, Wood Innovation and Design Centre, Vancouver Lipont Art Centre, dual shows at Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Gryphon Musée, and Deer Lake Gallery, and solo shows at Queen’s Park Gallery and City Centre Community Centre. She was also featured in a public art project called “No. 3 Road Art Columns” in Richmond, BC and “Utility Box Art Wrap” in Vancouver, BC.
