Exploring Das Smart Polymer Clay with Joan Tayler
September 01, 2022
Description
When: September 1 from 11:00 am to 12:30 (PDT)
Exploring Das Smart Polymer Clay with Joan Tayler
Polymer clay is a versatile colourful modelling material with a permanence similar to acrylic paint. Polymer clay can be used to create small sculptures, jewellery, paintings, and veneers.
During this inspiring and educational demonstration, Joan Tayler will be showing you mokume-gane and millefiori along with some simple tricks like booking and combing the clay to get quick but impressive effects. Joan will also share with you some of the tests that she has done with Das Smart polymer clay (Coming soon to Opus!) that demonstrate its potential and answer questions about using polymer clay.
Materials:
Participants are encouraged to get a couple of blocks of Polymer Clay to work with during the demonstration. Note: Contrasting colours of different values work best. This will help you to experience firsthand some of the techniques that Joan will be demonstrating. A straight blade to cut clay is almost essential when working with polymer clay and a pasta machine dedicated to craft use is nice to have but not absolutely necessary.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Artist’s Bio:
Joan Taylor was born in Manitoba yet has lived all her life in British Columbia except for eight years in Tokyo. Her stay in Japan influenced her taste in design. Joan originally worked in graphic design, but for the past 30 years, she has worked mainly in polymer clay which combines the three-dimensionality of clay with the range of colours found in paint.
