Join Barbara as she showers you with numerous useful and fascinating tips on the use of colour in painting.
Barbara will present many fundamentals of colour that are appropriate for any painting, whether you paint representational landscapes and figures or nonobjective work. Specific concepts will include information on pigments, going beyond the colour wheel, buying paint, mixing paint, and expressing yourself with colour. The work of famous artists, both Old Masters and contemporary artists, will be used to illustrate these principles. You will see some of the decisions she makes when approaching a painting from the perspective of colour.
This demo will be useful for artists at any level, whether beginner or expert and for any painting medium.

Oil Paints: both Water-Mixable (such as Holbein Aquaduo) and Traditional (such as Gamblin, Opus, and/or Williamsburg)
- Titanium white
- Cadmium yellow light
- Cadmium yellow deep
- Cadmium red light
- Alizarin permanent
- Ultramarine blue
- Phthalo blue
Various sizes of hog bristle brushes such as Opus Fortissimo brushes
Refined Linseed Oil as mediums
Safflower oil (for brush cleaning)

Artist Bio
Barbara Cadario is a Vancouver artist who enhanced her creativity while achieving a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art+Design and taking many art classes in California. She has been creating oil paintings since the age of 9 and likes to work in watercolour and acrylic as well. Frequent themes in her work are freedom and beauty, represented symbolically by an attention to light and colour.
