Description
Gouache is an opaque water-based medium that creates a rich velvety surface when dry and has the unique ability to work extremely well on black watercolour paper. The focus of this workshop will be on creating whimsical patterns with botanical elements such as flowers and leaves on a black surface, ranging from the simple to the complex. This workshop is ideal for those who have always wanted to try gouache paint but didn’t know how to get started. The step-by-step and easy-to-follow instructions will help you fall in love with this medium in no time. Suitable for all levels.

This online workshop will be held via Zoom. Students will receive a link one week ahead of the start of the workshop.

Suppy List
-Gouache paint: Winsor & Newton Designers Gouache Primary Set or a range of colours that include red, yellow, blue, violet, green and white
-watercolour brushes #4 and #10
-one sheet of black Stonehenge paper (cut into four quarters) or a pad of black Stonehenge Aqua Papers 9 x 12”
-2 jars of water
-plastic palette or white plastic lids or plates to mix colours on (a disposable palette pad can also be used)
-HB pencil, eraser and sharpen
-ruler
-sketchbook (any size, just for notes and practice ideas)
