August 25, 2022
Description
When: Aug 25th from 11:00 am to 12:30 (PST).
Flowing, Intuitive Watercolour Landscapes with Angela Fehr
Have you ever struggled with the tyranny of the reference photo? How do you know what details to add and what to edit out so that your painting has more impact? When you loosen up your landscape painting style, you create opportunities to fill your paintings with emotion and tell your story.
In this demonstration, I’ll walk you through my process for creating intuitive, abstracted landscape paintings using multiple versions of my reference photo and gamifying my process so that learning to paint a new subject feels like play. The foundational skills that build a loose watercolour landscape can be built on so that you can add as much detail as you would like, while developing your own personal, evocative watercolour style.

Artist Bio:
Angela Fehr’s love of watercolour started in her teens, becoming the medium she has used for nearly 30 years to communicate her love of the Peace River region of northern British Columbia and Alberta. Her love of sharing her watercolour “lightbulb moments” led Angela to a career teaching watercolour to students all over the world in online classes and in-person workshops, and thousands of artists have been inspired by her encouraging “you can become your own favourite artist” message of empowerment. Over the decades, Angela has discovered that the key to creating her most authentic work comes not from flawless technique, but in giving herself permission to fall in love with the painting process, regardless of outcome. Angela lives with her husband and three teenagers on an acreage overlooking Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Her art and classes can be found online.
