From Nature to Studio with Marion Krahn

Artist talk will describe the benefits of plein air and the transition from sketches and gestural water-colours to the finished painting in the studio. Practical tips such as type of sketchbook, mediums, brushes, use of photography will be delved into. Extensive demonstration of all materials and mark making process will accompany the talk. Art as a means of communicating the importance of our natural habitats in the Okanagan will be discussed. A focus will be Mill Creek, a natural waterway and habitat of much wild life in our city which has an interesting history and is an inspiration for current work.

Marion Krahn was born in Vancouver BC Canada and lives in The Okanagan Valley of BC. Fine Arts Certificate obtained at Okanagan Collage. Travels to Britain, France, New Zealand and Canada furthered her visual understanding. Current work reflects travels to the BC Coast and the inspiring nature of the Okanagan.
