Getting the Most out of Your Watercolour Palette with Anna Altwein

Join Anna as she introduces how to consider the fascinating characteristics watercolours while building a palette ideal for your artistic practice. Using Opus’ newly launched Essential Watercolour Mini Half-Pan Tin Set, she will demonstrate and explain four 12-colour sample palettes thoughtfully tailored towards maximum mixability, landscapes, botanicals, and portrait painting. Through swatching, tips and tricks, and universal colour mixing theory, she will share her holistic approach to getting the most out of your watercolour palette. Discussion topics will include, but are not limited to, single pigment colours vs. multi-pigment convenience colours, mixability, transparency, granulation, and more. Questions are encouraged and notetaking supplies are suggested!

 

Anna Altwein is a Vancouver based multi-disciplinary artist, pigment enthusiast, and painting instructor. She specializes in colour theory, paint mixing techniques, and sharing her vast knowledge of art materials with her students and friends. Originally becoming known as the “Colour Queen” among Opus Granville Island staff and customers, Anna now works out of her studio, Opus’ National Mail Order department, and Opus Coquitlam.
