Zines are one of the cheapest and most immediate forms of self expression out there. They can be about anything, and be made using any form of expression, from poetry to comics to collage. Zines provide a place for you to put your ideas out into the world on a budget, and there are no rules about what the subject matter can be. If it interests you, it can be the basis for a zine – from local politics to making a collection of cute cat faces.
In this class you will learn a number of simple bookbinding techniques that can be used to produce your own zines. We will also cover brainstorming ideas, producing a layout, and will have a selection of materials on hand for you to try out both mark making and collage techniques.
