Introduction to Portrait Drawing with Coloured Pencils
October 20, 2020
$210 (190 for CVAC members)
Description
In this five-session online workshop hosted by talented artist Jeannette Sirois, students will be introduced to the keys of effectively using coloured pencils when drawing portraits. This class requires no previous skill level with coloured pencils or portrait drawings. A weekly critique session will be available to all students through zoom with the instructor, as well as in-class or video feedback on students’ projects ongoing throughout the full length of the workshop.
While looking at materials, papers, blenders and other tools we’ll explore colour choices for various skin tones, under colours, and how to choose your colours effectively. Along the way we’ll discuss layering, working with your paper for various portrait areas, and key techniques and methods to attain successful drawing results. We will break the face down into manageable sections and discuss each in their own way, while also looking at shading, skin details and composition.
Jeanette Sirois is a full time practicing artist with over 26 years teaching both adults and youth.
