Over-Drawn with Tanta Pennington

October 05, 2019

Description

Saturday, October 5 12:00PM – 1:30PM
Saturday, October 5 2:30PM – 4:00PM

Join Tanta for a demonstration of how she “OVER-DRAWs” using various sizes of Posca acrylic pens on her dry acrylic paintings. She embroiders on the canvas, then use the Posca pens to create thin and thick lines that connect the large painted shapes and enhance the composition.

Tanta will focus on how she finishes the large abstract paintings by drawing on the painted surface. She will talk about working back and forth from painting with a brush to drawing with a pen until it feels finished, and what she does to resurrect and finish an “unsuccessful” painting.

Space is limited and registration is required.
Please visit Opus Victoria or contact them at 250‑386‑8133 or toll free 1‑800‑524‑6555 to register.

Tanta DeStaffany Pennington is based in Victoria BC and is a Fine Arts Diploma and Independent Studio Program graduate from the Vancouver Island School of Art.

Through unconscious acts of painting and drawing Tanta examines a world composed of fragments of geometry, architecture and fantasy. Using a vocabulary of hard-edged cell shapes and ethereal dream like forms she investigates the edges between her internal voices and the real world. Tanta is currently focused on exploring a range of scales and formats including painting, drawing, and fibre sculpture.
