Paint on the Mountain Plein Air competition

The annual Paint on the Mountain presented by British Pacific Properties is back for the 6th year!

Call for Artists: How to Enter

We are accepting submissions between June 8 to July 4, 2021. Artists may submit their interest and artwork digitally to participate in this year’s competition. Twelve successful entries will be selected by a jury, whose artists will be invited to participate in this year’s competition. The artists selected will paint nature and the landscape en plein air on the serene mountainside of Hollyburn Mountain (off Cypress Bowl Road), with the opportunity to win cash prizes. There is no entry fee to participate in the challenge.

Artist requirements

• Artists must submit two plein air pieces completed in the last 12 months, submitted at a minimum resolution of 72 DPI;

• Artists must include a CV; and,

We will head up to Hollyburn Mountain with the jury-selected artists on Saturday July 31, 2021 at 10am to capture the beauty of the mountainside, offering opportunities to paint both nature and viewscapes.

Artists will be tasked to produce two pieces of artwork en plein air in two days, or less, at the same location as previous years on Hollyburn Mountain.

The challenge will come to an end with two paintings per artist completed on Sunday, August 1st, 2021.

The top 3 winners will be announced on British Pacific Properties’ website and social media on Sunday evening, and awarded cash prizes.

Completed artwork must be framed and delivered on the morning of Monday, August 2nd.  Opportunities for digital and physical exhibition will be available, with the option for artists to price and sell their artwork should they wish.

Jurors will award three cash prizes totalling $2,500, with an additional prize awarded to The People’s Choice.
