Let your brushstrokes reflect your subjects in motion, even still life! We are excited to welcome artist Mitchell Villa from Victoria, BC for a 2 day painting workshop focused on contemporary still life. July 10 & 11, 10 AM – 3 PM, $240.
Open to artists working in acrylic or oil. Beginners are encouraged to join.

Learn to amplify the energy in your work by going big and bold with colours
Learn to render work from photo references, a jumping off point for deconstruction as you find your images inner energy
Master the art of setting up compositions
Apply the ideas of art history to your work
Find purpose in each brushstroke as you work on the process of addition and subtraction towards an overall unity.

Materials List:
- Mixed media sketchbook
- 1 - 2 painting supports - Your choice of canvas or wood panel, minimum size 16 x 20 inches (prepared and ready for paint)
- Brushes: bring a range of your favourite brushes, including #6 and #14 flat brushes
- Pencil and sharpener
- Fine tip Sharpie
- Ruler
- Masking tape
- Shop towel or paper towel
- Water bucket or mineral spirits container
- Palette
- Palette knife
Paint and Medium (Your choice of oil or acrylic):
- Titanium White
- Burnt Umber
- Black
- Yellow Ochre
- Ultramarine Blue or Cobalt
- Napthol Red or Cadmium Red
- Hansa Yellow or Cadmium Yellow
- Alizarin Crimson
- Ultramarine Violet
- Phathalo Green
For Acrylic:
- Gloss medium (Golden Gloss Glazing Liquid is excellent)
For Oil:
- Stand oil or Galkyd Gel
- Odourless mineral spirits
