Ray Ophoff Exhibition and 4th Friday Event for September
September 25, 2019 - September 29, 2019
Description
The Fort Gallery invites you to a special opening reception for Ray Ophoff’s Exhibition of New Works, Friday, September 27 from 6-9 pm, which will be held in conjunction with the gallery’s 4th Friday event for the month of September. This month’s invited artist is percussionist Daniel Tones.
Ray’s landscape and botanical oil paintings dance the razor’s edge between impressionism and old school realism. No political statements, no social revolution, just up-front painting for the sake of painting. Whether a snow-covered marsh in deepest darkest Burnaby or an intimate tangle from one of the regions many community gardens, the works are less familiar views of some very familiar subjects.
Ray Ophoff’s Exhibition of New Works runs from September 25-29, noon to 5 pm. Ray will be on hand most days, to answer any questions about his techniques, his inspiration or his grandchildren.
Daniel Tones is an award-winning percussionist widely recognized for his work as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed with some of the biggest names in the percussion world, including Bob Becker, Aiyun Huang, Morris Palter, and Steve Schick, and has been broadcast nationally on radio and television. He studied with Salvador Ferreras, Russell Hartenberger, and John Rudolph, and was the first person to receive a doctorate in percussion performance from a Canadian university.
