Ut Pictura Poesis: Text and Visual Art
This lecture will explore relationships between visual art and the use of art as a graphic tool and communicator of meaning and sensibility. Artists and authors investigated include Charlotte Salomon, Frank O’Hara, On Kawara, Edward Ruscha, Lawrence Weiner, Cy Twombly, Jenny Holzer and Oscar Murillo. The lecture is presented in conjunction with two text-based exhibitions at Victoria Art Council and Errant Art.
