Still Life Painting Workshop with Paul Chizik

Workshop Overview (2 Days):

Through demonstration, the student will learn the sight size and comparative method of measuring. Composition will be discussed as well as lighting. The tonal method of painting (no drawing, or limited), will be demonstrated, as well as having a hands on approach during the course. Through demonstration and application, the student will have a better understanding of the rheology (understanding of flow and placidity of materials eg: paint) and morphology (the shape of things). After this workshop, the student will have gained more confidence and a better understanding and importance of this genre.

About the Instructor – Paul Chizik

Paul Chizik’s paintings are rooted in the classical tradition with a contemporary approach. He works in the custom of painting major scale canvasses in the studio as well as the plein-air custom of working directly outdoors in a variety of environments where the natural splendor or raw urban power is immediate.  His work ranges from landscapes, to portraiture, figurative narratives and still life. As artist, mentor and teacher Paul hopes to have the art of painting regain its role as an exciting, current and vibrant visual medium with a renewed urgency.
