The Masters Are My Muse

October 29, 2021 - November 22, 2021

Description

The Vernon Community Arts Centre invites you to create work that is inspired by the Masters – Master Artists and
Artisans who have come before you, or perhaps, those still alive that you admire or enjoy learning
from.

With your muse in mind, how will you create your own original work that is inspired by your chosen artist, yet contains your unique expression? Rather than trying to render an exact copy of someone else’s work, the goal is to create works of art that express our individuality, not art that shows how skillful we are at imitation. Exploring
the lives and work of those who’ve gone before us and learning about their process, techniques, materials, colour palettes and so forth, can offer context, depth, and an opportunity for greater skill and richness in our own work.
Any artistic mediums (paint, print, glass, fibre, clay, metal, wood, etc) can be used.

This is not a juried exhibit, so you are not required to apply in advance. Simply drop off your work at the Vernon Community Arts Centre on the date shown below. The Arts Centre showcases works of both emerging and established artists as long the art fits the theme and follows the
prescribed guidelines in the Artist Entry Formm which is available at www.vernonart.ca.
