Instructor: Elaine Hughes
In this course we will learn the essentials of creating a successful post-impressionist mountain painting using watercolours. We will discuss: sky and cloud formations, sculpting the peaks, the use of the white of the paper to create snow, the importance of cast shadows, atmospheric perspective, creating interest in the midground, and foreground options. Both wet on wet and direct painting with transparent and semitransparent watercolours will be demonstrated, as well as negative painting techniques.
Some previous drawing and painting experience is highly recommended. Bring a photo of a mountain scene that you would like to paint.
