Thinking Outside the Tube with Sennelier Oil Pastels and Oil Sticks

Join Savoir-Faire Co-Founder and Art Material History Expert Pierre Guidetti along with Savoir-Faire’s Manager of Education and Resident Artist Andrew Cook as they showcase the fundamental difference between Sennelier Oil Sticks and Sennelier Oil pastels.
Find out which of these tools is most appropriate for various substrates, as well as when you can use them with additional media. How are they similar, and what makes them different and Unique. Pierre will do a deep dive into the 135+ Year History of the Sennelier brand, the Family that started it and these tools in particular. Why have artists such as Picasso and Basquiat found them so perfect for their work? This will be an Interactive lecture including ample application demonstrations of both Oil Stick and Oil pastel on a wide variety of surfaces.

Artist Bios
Pierre Guidetti For more than 35 years has been building personal relationships with North American Artists. As CEO of Savoir-Faire, Pierre has had the opportunity to befriend the likes of Wolf Kahn, Albert Handell, Willem De Kooning, David Hockney, Wayne Thiebaud, Max Ginsburg, Daniel Greene, Richard Serra and countless other North American Artists. By listening to the desires and aspirations of artists, Pierre has interpreted their needs by sourcing, then importing the world’s finest creative materials. In the time Pierre has spent bringing the finest materials of the world to the US and Canada, he has developed himself as something of an Art Material Historian. Pierre has traveled and lectured across the U.S., Canada and abroad.
Andrew Cook Andrew Cook is an Artist living and Working in Northern California. As the Director of Education and Resident Artist for Savoir-Faire Andrew has had the opportunity for constant experimentation. Andrew loves to figure out how art materials work and interact, and thoroughly enjoys finding questions he hasn’t found an answer to…. Yet.
