Tree Build Community Art Project

August 05, 2023 - August 27, 2023

Description

Help build a work of temporary public art!

The West Vancouver Community Arts Council presents Tree Build, our 2023 Collaborative Community Art Project!

North Shore artist Matt Monroe conceived & designed this work of interactive temporary public art to inspire dialogue on the impacts of climate change & importance of environmental stewardship & restoration through a collaborative building process.

Tree Build invites the public to come together to create a whimsical, colourful, oversized sculpture in the form of a tree – made from brightly painted pieces of driftwood attached together with connectors created from recycled plastic waste. Members of the community will help ‘grow’ the work by connecting more & more pieces resulting in a tall, three-dimensional, brightly-colored tree growing in all directions.

Unveiling: August 4, 6 pm
Celebrate the unveiling of Tree Build & be one of the first to β€˜grow’ the sculpture! Join us, artist Matt Monroe & other art lovers for some light refreshments & art making!

Community Collaborations: Weekends in August from 2:30 – 4 pm
Be a part of the creative process by adding new pre-made branches, contemplating our impact on the environment & connecting with our community!
