Urban Sketching the Vancouver Art Gallery with Isabel Santos and Derwent Inktense

June 30, 2021

Description

When: June 30th 2:30pm

Urban Sketching the Vancouver Art Gallery with Isabel Santos and Derwent Inktense

Join Isabel Santos from Toronto Urban Sketchers for a fantastic demo showing how a complex scene can be quickly sketched using fan favourite Derwent Inktense pencils and Inktense Paint Pan set. Isabel will walk participants through her set-up for drawing on location and will talk about using a targeted focal point to create captivating compositions. Artists who fear perspective drawing will find this technique helpful to get believable proportions of buildings by blocking the shapes first using the Inktense Paint Pan set then adding details using pencils. This demo will be wonderful for creative individuals wanting to get started with Urban Sketching, those who would like to see Inktense materials used in yet another creative project, or anyone who would like to see a city scene come to life before their eyes!

Artist Bio

Isabel Santos discovered the Urban Sketchers (USk) community in 2016, she became the Toronto chapter admin in 2019 and was invited to be part of the USk Membership Committee in 2021 handling 95+ North American chapters and still growing.

Historic buildings, houses and interesting structures are her favourite subjects to sketch. Preferring on location drawing than using a photograph, she does not think of perfecting the final artwork, but would rather enjoy the moment and be immersed in the environment. Sketching for her is a meditative process to exercise the right side of the brain.
