Sometimes we get in a rut when working our craft. One of these ruts can be our choice of colours. Making small colour studies can expand the colour possibilities for a painting, often in surprising ways. As Gail demos, you’ll see what she means! She will be demonstrating in soft pastels, but this idea can be transferred to other media.
Brought up in Jamaica, Gail Sibley, BFA, MA. now lives in Victoria, BC. The warmth and vibrant colours of her homeland is reflected in her work. Gail is a Signature member of the Pastel Society of America and has her Master designation from Pastel Artists Canada. She contributed to the pastel section of DK’s publication Artist’s Drawing Techniques.
Gail teaches workshops abroad as well as in North America. She also has online courses including Pastels 101: Everything You Need to Know to Paint Successfully with Soft Pastels.
She produces a well-received weekly blog at https://HowToPastel.com.
