Watercolour Seascapes with Andrea England

June 17, 2022

Description

When: June 17th at 11:00 am (PST)

Watercolour Seascapes with Andrea England

Join watercolour artist Andrea England for an engaging look at how to capture the feel of a place using ink and watercolour.

Andrea will show you how to choose a focus for your painting and then create a composition that brings a sense of movement to the scene. We’ll select colours to enhance the feel of the location and then build atmosphere through our use of light and value. You’ll learn techniques that you can apply in the studio or when painting plein air.

Skills covered include creating a dynamic composition, mixing a range of values in watercolour, building atmospheric perspective and simplifying complex shapes.

Artist Bio:

Andrea England is a watercolour artist who ran away to sea and now creates art aboard a sailboat studio. Slightly unsurprisingly, her paintings are inspired by the coasts of British Columbia and are filled with the movement of wind and waves.  Andrea is a trained teacher and loves to help others on their art journey through workshops and tutorials.

Brand Bio:

Fabriano has been making paper for 750 years, and this is reflected in the wonderful quality of their Artistico watercolour paper. Artistico is a vegan-friendly, mould-made 100% cotton paper. Its resilient surface and great colour lifting capabilities make it an excellent choice for artists of all stages. The subtle texture of Artistico Cold Press is suitable for painters who love crisp lines and fine detail whilst also having enough presence to let granulating colours shine.

“Fabriano Artistico Cold Press 300 gsm Extra White paper has been at the heart of my watercolour practice since I discovered it in 2017!” – Andrea England
