Creative Community

Visual art festivals are integral to a happy, functioning, and vibrant community. As some may already know, it is not an easy task to organize and produce an annual event. Many elements and contributions outside of the visual arts world are needed to make the event a reality. The final result is truly where the signs of a supportive community show.

Festivals and events provide not only a palette for local artists and artisans to share their vision with the masses, but also allows businesses to interact with their communities in a different way. Charities gain broader exposure, the average person has the ability to immerse themselves in whatever catches their eye, and children are opened to what art means. With all proceeds going to local venders and merchants, the benefits of these events all go back to those within the community.

In the end, the networking and exposure of the visual arts pave the way for future collaborations, and ultimately, for the future generations to continue spreading the importance of an artistic community. We sat down with the some of the key organizers and sponsors of one of the largest art festivals in the lower mainland, Arts Alive, to further explore how this particular festival has impacted the entire Langley community.
