Abstraction: Common Subject, Unusual Design – Weekend Workshop

Beneath every good painting is a good abstract design or understructure. The “old masters” were masters of composition. If you traced the shapes of one of their paintings without the detail and added color to those forms, you would have a great abstract painting. There are many degrees of abstraction. You will be introduced to at least 10 different ways of changing a common subject into a strong and dynamic abstract painting.
