Artist Workshop – Containment, paper & stitch with Anni Hunt

Description

Thread painting is the process of machine stitching an image. Some images are stitched directly onto the printed canvas while others are stitched onto printed water soluble fabrics and then the fabric is washed away to leave an image entirely of thread. In this class we will explore both techniques to give a grounding of the basics. On the first day we will practice stitching on canvas. Then move onto water soluble fabric. We will work small samples which can be stitched into a book for reference later.
The second day we will start to stitch out our selected image on canvas or water soluble fabric.
Class is supplied with a kit of the necessary fabrics needed for stitching on.
When: Wednesday/Thursday September 5th/6th, Time: 11am – 4pm
