Basket Weaving: Twill Woven Cat’s Head Basket with Cedar and Willow Bark

Description

Using a selection of tree barks, weave an exquisite basket to give as a gift or display in your house. We will shape the basket in the style of the Cat’s Head basket associated with Shaker baskets. These baskets start with a square base and are woven in a unique way to achieve a rounded shape. This adaptation uses cedar bark spokes and willow bark woven in a continuous twill pattern. The rim of this basket is a unique variation using yellow cedar bark three strand twining. No experience necessary. Instructed by Joan Carrigan.
